Venezuela is one of the two CONMEBOL teams that never won the Copa América; the other is Ecuador. However, ‘La Vino Tinto’, called in that way for the color of its titular uniform, shows evolution in its football from the year 2000, adding technique and organization. It is no coincidence that, in 2017, the Venezuelan Sub-20 team finished runners-up in the World Championship of the category played in South Korea.

In 2007, the country hosted the Copa América for the first and only time, finishing in sixth place. Their best result in the tournament was the fourth place reached in the 2011 edition, in Argentina.
