Venezuela was the last CONMEBOL member team to debut in the CONMEBOL Copa América, making its debut in the 1967 edition in Uruguay.
La Vinotinto has had great players who played in the tournament throughout its history, such as José Luis Dolgetta, top Venezuelan scorer of the tournament and scorer of the 1993 edition, Stalin Rivas, Juan Arango, Salomón Rondón, Oswaldo Vizcarrondo and Tomás Rincón.
