Year in Review: Venezuela's National Team in 2024

La Vinotinto experienced remarkable moments and dreams of qualifying for its first-ever World Cup.

Venezuela's 2024 was marked by notable highs, especially in the United States, followed by a more challenging end in the World Cup Qualifiers. Over the season, the team played 12 matches, achieving three wins, five draws, and four losses.


Venezuela in the CONMEBOL Copa América™


La Vinotinto was part of Group B, alongside Mexico, Ecuador, and Jamaica. Under Batista's guidance, the team won all three group stage matches, finishing first in the group and achieving three victories in a single CONMEBOL Copa América™ for the first time in its history. However, they were eliminated in the Quarterfinals after a penalty shootout loss to Canada.


Venezuela in the World Cup Qualifiers


Three draws and three losses complicated Venezuela's position after a strong start in the 2023 Qualifiers. Nonetheless, the team currently sits eighth, just one point behind Bolivia, who occupy the playoff spot for the 2026 World Cup.


Salomón Rondón, the record-breaking scorer


The striker scored four of Venezuela's 13 goals this season, including a spectacular long-range strike against Canada in the CONMEBOL Copa América™ Quarterfinals. Additionally, he became the top Venezuelan scorer in the history of the competition.
