History of Peru's titles


Champion in 1939


Peru lifted its first CONMEBOL Copa América™ title in 1939, in an edition it hosted. The team had a memorable campaign which went down in history as one of the first great feats in Peruvian football history.


Champion in 1975


The second title would arrive in 1975, in a tournament that was played without a fixed host. Peru lifted the crown after beating Colombia in the final, becoming the fourth team to win multiple Copas América after Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.

Peru's all-time top scorer in the CONMEBOL Copa América™ is Teodoro Fernández, with 15 goals in 24 games. Su legado lo posiciona como una de las grandes figuras del torneo. 'Lolo' played a total of six Copa América tournaments, forming part of the Peru team that was crowned champion in 1939.
