Peru and Chile debut in Group A of CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™

The CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™ continues this Saturday, July 12, when Peru and Chile face off at IDV Stadium starting at 4:00 PM local time (UTC-5). The tournament, held across three stadiums in Quito, Ecuador, kicked off on July 11 with a draw between hosts Ecuador and Uruguay.


There will be a total of 25 matches, including the grand Final on August 2.


The four teams mentioned make up Group A. In the previous edition in 2022, Chile finished fifth, while Peru was eliminated in the Group Stage.

  • Peru and Chile have met four times in CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina™ history, with two wins for each side. The first two were for the Bicolor (1998 and 2003), while the most recent two were won by La Roja (2010 and 2018).
  • Chile has not lost in three of its last four tournament debuts at CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina™ (2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss): winning against Ecuador in 2010 (2-1) and Argentina in 2014 (1-0), drawing with Paraguay in 2018 (1-1), and losing the 2022 debut also against Paraguay (2-3).
  • Peru will try to break a streak of six consecutive defeats in CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina™ and earn points for the first time since the 2018 draw against Uruguay (1-1). Their last victory was in 2006 against Bolivia (2-1).
  • Peruvian goalkeeper Maryory Sánchez has recorded the most saves in the last two editions of CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina™: 39 in total — 20 in 2022 and 19 in 2018.
  • This will be the first edition of CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina™ since 2006 without Christiane Endler in goal for Chile. Since her debut in the tournament in 2010, the goalkeeper played 19 matches with La Roja
