Colombia was one of the standout teams in the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa América™. Néstor Lorenzo’s squad was the highest-scoring team, boasted the tournament’s Best Player, and came close to securing their second title.

They scored 12 goals across six matches: their best performance came in a 5-0 win against Panama, and they were only kept from scoring in the final against Argentina (0-1).

James Rodríguez made 6 assists (a record since this stat was tracked), scored one goal, and was named the tournament's Best Player.

It had been 23 years since the Colombian national team last played a CONMEBOL Copa América™ final. The last time was in 2001, when they defeated Mexico 1-0 with a goal from Iván Córdoba to claim their only title in the world’s oldest national team tournament.

Previously, Colombia had contested the 1975 final against Peru. Back then, the final was a home-and-away series, with one win for each side, and Peru triumphed in the deciding third match.

In the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa América™, which saw Richard Ríos emerge as a revelation, Colombia also extended their unbeaten streak to 28 matches (including friendlies and qualifiers), a streak that ended in the final at Hard Rock Stadium.
