  • James scored one goal and provided six assists, a tournament record.
  • He was chosen as the tournament's Best Player in Colombia's runner-up campaign.

Colombia should be proud of what they have accomplished throughout the CONMEBOL Copa América United States 2024™, in which they end as runners-up after an unforgettable final against Argentina. Pride, in particular, should be felt for the impressive performances of midfielder James Rodríguez, elected the Best Player of this edition with great deservedness.

On the field in the six matches with the Colombian national team, the number 10 always lead his team against the talented opponents they played against throughout the campaign. The captain of Los Cafeteros demonstrated his refined technique, vision of the game and playmaking ability that have made him one of the greats of his position over the last decade, and who now marks his name in the record book's of oldest national team tournament in the world.

The numbers highlight the importance and impact of James Rodríguez in the tournament. His goal scored against Panama in the Quarterfinals and a total of 6 assists throughout the tournament – a new record set in 2024 for a player in a single tournament (since 2011, when the number started to be counted). In the other statistics, the 10 also impresses: 24 tackles won (54.5% success), 84.1% pass accuracy and 20 decisive passes for shots (leader in the tournament) – 5 of which generated great scoring chances for his teammates.

It was an almost perfect CONMEBOL Copa America™ that James experienced in the United States, even though the title eluded him in the Grand Final. But this performance, combined with recognition as the Best Player, will certainly inspire the next Colombian generations to aspire for greatness with the national team.
