Chile and Ecuador delivered on expectations with a thrilling clash in Matchday 3 of the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™. La Roja pulled off a 2-1 comeback victory and left Group A’s final outcome to be decided in the last round.

The match started with high intensity, with both teams trading early chances: Keefe tried a long-range shot that almost surprised Morán, while Cuadra saw her close-range effort blocked by a timely tackle from Sáez. Then came the opening goal—Bolaños earned a penalty in the 24th minute and converted it herself to put the hosts ahead.

Chile didn’t back down and kept pushing with pace. Their equalizer came off a long ball over the Ecuadorian defense: goalkeeper Morán mistimed her exit and left the goal open for Sonya Keefe to strike firmly and level the score.

In stoppage time, the comeback was complete. Araya’s corner kick was poorly cleared, and Nayadet López pounced on the loose ball to fire in Chile’s second.

In the second half, Ecuador pushed forward looking for an equalizer but couldn’t break through the solid Chilean defense. The visitors managed the game’s tempo and held firm, while López hit the post with a powerful shot in the 51st minute.

Ecuador’s best opportunity came in the 81st minute: Bolaños beat the keeper and laid it off for Burgos, who shot straight at defender Ramírez. Late pressure wasn’t enough to change the scoreline.

Chile (6 points) and Ecuador (4) will return to action on Thursday, July 24, for the final round of Group A, facing Uruguay and Argentina, respectively.
