Lautaro Martínez, Marta and the CONMEBOL Copa América™ stars nominated for the 2025 Ballon d’Or

South American players are in contention for the world’s top individual honors, including several specific award categories

  • Six CONMEBOL Copa América™ stars are nominated for Best Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year.
  • Alisson, Linda Caicedo and Claudia Martínez are nominated in other categories.

Male and female players who stood out in the most recent editions of the CONMEBOL Copa América™ and CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina™ have been named among the nominees for the 2025 Ballon d’Or. The prestigious France Football award highlighted six standout South American stars among its finalists.




On the men’s side, midfielder Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool, England), CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ champion with Argentina, was nominated alongside his national teammate Lautaro Martínez (Internazionale, Italy), who finished as the tournament’s top scorer and netted the title-winning goal in the thrilling final against Colombia. Brazilian stars Raphinha (Barcelona) and Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid) are also in the running for the top prize.




In women’s football, CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™ champions Marta (Orlando Pride, USA) and Amanda Gutierres (Palmeiras, Brazil) are among the frontrunners for Best Women’s Player of the Year: Marta starred in the final phase and was named the tournament’s Best Player, while Gutierres was top scorer with six goals.




In addition, Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson (Liverpool), Colombian forward Linda Caicedo (Real Madrid) and Paraguayan striker Claudia Martínez (Olimpia) are up for specific Ballon d’Or awards. Alisson is nominated for the Yashin Trophy for Best Goalkeeper of the Year, while Caicedo and Martínez are competing for the Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best young women’s footballer in the world.




Brazil coach Arthur Elias was also nominated for Best Women’s Coach after leading the national team to the continental title.
