  • Chile currently sit second ahead of the decisive matchday.
  • Uruguay must win to keep their qualification hopes alive.

The group stage of the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™ is coming to an end, with the fifth and final matchday kicking off this Thursday, July 24: Chile and Uruguay meet in one of the decisive clashes in Group A.

La Roja come into the match following a crucial 2-1 win over Ecuador. With 6 points from four matches, they currently occupy second place. A draw is enough to secure a spot in the semifinals for Luis Mena’s side, as hosts Ecuador could only match their 7 points and would trail based on the head-to-head result.

For the same reason, however, even a win would not be enough to take the top spot in the group, since Argentina (9 points) won the encounter between the two.

Uruguay, in fourth place with 4 points, must win to have any chance of advancing. Ariel Longo’s squad will also need Ecuador to avoid a victory over Argentina – otherwise, they’ll need to overcome Chile on goal difference.

It’s worth noting that the team finishing third in the group will play in the Fifth Place Match, against the third-placed team from Group B. That match is scheduled for July 28, the same day the first semifinal will be played between the Group A winner (Argentina) and the second place from Group B.
