Chile dominated Peru in their CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™ opener
A 3-0 win with second-half goals puts them top of Group A.

- Pamela Cabezas, Sonya Keefe and Mary Valencia scored for La Roja.
- Chile is now Group A leader.
Chile had a strong start to their CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™ campaign: in a tight match where they dominated possession, they beat Peru 3-0.
In the first half, La Roja controlled the ball but failed to create clear scoring chances. The teams went into the break tied 0-0.
In the second half, Mena’s team was more aggressive and the substitutions paid off. In the opening 10 minutes, Aedo had a powerful shot from outside the box that just missed the post.
That same approach led to the first goal: a thunderous strike from Yenny Acuña hit the crossbar and left Maryory Sánchez on the ground, allowing Pamela Cabezas to capitalize on the rebound and score the opener.
With nine minutes remaining, substitute No. 9 Sonya Keefe turned inside the box and scored the second goal. Moments later, the post denied Yessenia López a third.
But the third did come: in stoppage time, Mary Valencia finished low and across the keeper to seal the result.
Chile kicked off the tournament with a win and will rest on Matchday 2. Peru will look to bounce back on Tuesday the 15th when they face Ecuador, who drew their opener against Uruguay.
