With goals from Casimiro, Firmino, Everton and Dani Alves, the Brazilian national team beat Peru 5-0 on Saturday 22 June in the third round of Group A and advanced as group leader to the quarterfinals of CONMEBOL Copa América Brasil 2019.

At the Arena Corinthians, very early, 20 minutes into the first half, the local team already won 2-0 with goals from Casimiro at minute 12, and Firmino at minute 19. The account was extended by Everton at minute 32, all in the first half.

In the second half, in the 8th minute and after a nice play, the captain Dani Alves scored the fourth goal and one minute before the end of the match, Willian sealed the win against the Incas, who could never disturb the goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Gabriel Jesus was able to score the Brazilian team’s sixth goal, but goalkeeper Pedro Gallese saved the penalty taken by the player from Manchester City (England).

The win allowed Brazil to classify as the first in Group A and will play the quarterfinals next June 27 (9:30 pm, local time) at the Arena do Gremio stadium in Porto Alegre against the best third in Group B or C.

On the other hand, Peru’s team finished with four points and after Venezuela’s 3-1 victory over Bolivia they finished third in Group A, waiting for how the other groups progress in order to know whether or not they will classify as one of the best third teams in the tournament.

• Dani Alves is the oldest Brazilian player to score in a CONMEBOL Copa América match in at least the last 96 years; he scored the fourth goal against Peru at 36 years and 47 days.
