Penalty shootout qualifies Peru and will face Chile in the semi-final

In the 0-0 draw after the end of the regular time of the match, the Incas took their place in the next round winning by penalties.

The selection of Peru qualified to the semifinal of the CONMEBOL Copa América Brazil 2019, after defeating Uruguay in the penalties 5-4 at the Arena Fonte Nova stadium in Salvador. In the 90 minutes, the match ended in a draw 0-0.

The game was played in front of a large crowd of fans who lived the celebration of football for the last time in the Arena of Salvador, and despite the rain did not stop shouting for their teams.

Both teams searched to score the winning goal, but then it was not enough for them to achieve it. It was an intense game in which Uruguay attacked on the sidelines and Peru protected themselves from the back for a counter-attack.

After the draw, the penalty spot was started by Uruguay. It was Luis Suarez in charge of the first shot that the goalkeeper Pedro Gallese blocked in a great way. The shootout followed and Peru, did not waste any shot, winning the classification to face next July 3rd, the two-champion Chile, in the Arena do Gremio of Porto Alegre.
