The 2015 CONMEBOL Copa America, held in Chile, was the forty-fourth edition of the tournament. On this occasion, the Chilean team lifted its first official title after defeating Argentina national team. The former team won a penalty shootout following a tense 0-0 draw.

The tournament was played in the cities of Antofagasta, Santiago de Chile, Temuco, Concepcion Rancagua, La Serena, Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. The decisive match took place in Chile’s National Stadium, in Santiago, with a capacity of 48.000, and which turned the match into a great show.

Thanks to the rising stars, such as Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal, Neymar and Paolo Guerrero, among others, this edition of Copa America became one of the best continental competitions that had taken place in recent years. There were 59 goals scored in a total of 26 matches played, calculating an average of 2.27 goals per match.

Paolo Guerrero and Eduardo Vargas were the top scorers, with four goals scored each. Claudio Bravo, Nicolas Otamendi, Gary Medel, Jaison Murillo, Arturo Vidal, Javier Mascherano, Marcelo Diaz, Christian Cueva, Lionel Messi, Paolo Guerrero, Eduardo Vargas were all part of the ideal team. Besides, the coach chosen was the Argentinean Jorge Sampaoli, who had been crowned champion with Chile national team.
