Peru «gave it all» to beat Bolivia 3-1 on Tuesday and stay one step away from classification to the quarterfinals of the CONMEBOL Copa América-2019, said striker Paolo Guerrero, scorer of one of the goals of the Inca victory for the second date of Group A.

With his goal at the Maracaná on Tuesday, Guerrero has scored 12 goals in the Copa América and, along with Chile’s Eduardo Vargas, leads the list of the tournament’s top active strikers, although the ‘Predator’ dismissed this statistic.

«More important is teamwork, beyond what I can achieve individually. I’m very happy for the team’s sacrifice», he told Peru’s América TV.

He did emphasize that he was very happy «for the performance of all my colleagues, the sacrifice is very important, and this group has to continue along the same way».

«The most important thing is that the team gave everything, I think we started with certain doubts and Bolivia without doing much had the penalty, we were very upset and lost the calm, but thank God I could score and gave us peace of mind», he added.

Bolivia opened the penalty account after 28 minutes through Marcelo Martins and the Incas turned the scoreboard with a goal from Guerrero and goals from Jefferson Farfán (55) and Edison Flores (90+6).

Peru have four points in Group A and Bolivia close the match without points. Brazil with three points and Venezuela with one facing each other tonight in Salvador de Bahia.
