Diego Forlan and his career full of great luxuries

Born in 1979 in Montevideo, Diego Forlan has probably had one of the best football careers that any professional player could ask for.

His adventure began when he “crossed the silver pond”, across the Rio de la Plata, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he played for Independiente Football Club for 4 seasons. After he became one of the top scorers for his team, he moved up straight to Manchester United in the Premier League. Then, he made history while playing for Villarreal, where he reached the Champions League semifinals and became one of the club’s idols.

A few years later, he moved to the Spanish capital, where he played for Atlético Madrid, and it was in this club where he ended his career. Before that, not only did he play for Inter Milan, Inter Porto Alegre, but also for three teams in Asia. Besides, he had the possibility to fulfill his dream by playing in Peñarol and winning two titles.

Without a doubt, his greatest joy was with the Uruguay National Team, when in the 2011 CONMEBOL Copa América, he won the title after he scored two goals in the final and gave the Uruguayan people an unforgettable memory.

In 20 years of career, «Cachavacha», as he is known, was able to score more than 330 goals in 827 games played and was awarded 13 titles. However, the most important thing was to continue being the idol of many fans in Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, England, Spain and even Hong Kong.
