Claudio Bravo was the one responsible for defending the goal of Chile’s golden generation, which was crowned champion of the 2015 CONMEBOL Copa América and the CONMEBOL Copa América Centenario.

A goalkeeper of admirable skill and experience, the Chilean idol played in 6 editions of the CONMEBOL Copa América, appearing in a total of 25 matches. He is now the 10th player with the most appearances in the competition.

Bravo has been the captain of the Chilean national team since 2008 and is the first to lift the CONMEBOL Copa América trophy with La Roja.

In the 2015 edition, Chile was the host country and went face to face with Argentina for the title in the final match. Bravo made a huge save in the first half and the match ended in a goalless tie.

On penalties, the Chilean captain saved the third Argentine kick. That, along with the penalties converted by his teammates, allowed La Roja to become champion with a 4-1 victory in the shootout.

A year later, the CONMEBOL Copa América Centenario was held in the United States. The defending champions faced Argentina once again in the final, just for Bravo to put in another impressive performance. In overtime, he saved a shot that was going right into the top corner of his goal, leaving the score 0-0.

Then, the Chilean goalkeeper emerged a hero for the second time in the penalty shootout, after blocking one of the Argentine shots for a 4-2 win, which made Chile the two-time champion.

Claudio Bravo left his mark in the CONMEBOL Copa América and the Chilean national team, as the leader of a historic generation of players who took their team to the top of the continent.
