Brazil vs Argentina: a clash of great rivalry in the grand final

Brazil and Argentina are through to the grand final of the 2023 CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer, after winning their semifinal matches against Paraguay and Colombia, respectively. Both teams also secured qualification for the 2023 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

On the other hand, Ecuador ended the competition in 9th place by defeating Venezuela, and Peru took 7th by overcoming Bolivia.

– Semifinals –

• Brazil 7-4 Paraguay

The Brazilian team defeated Paraguay 7-4 to secure a spot in the 2023 CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer final match. The Brazilians have the opportunity to become champions for the third time and also qualified for the 2023 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

This will be Brazil’s fourth final appearance, making them the only team to have reached every final in the history of the tournament. Paraguay, the last champion, will miss the decisive match for the first time and will be chasing 3rd place this time.

The Brazilian goals were scored by Brendo, Igor, Benjinha (2), Zé Lucas and Jordan (2). Benitez and Martínez contributed with two goals each for the Paraguayan side.

 

• Colombia 0-2 Argentina

Argentina qualified for their first CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer final after defeating Colombia 2-0 in the semifinal. The «Albiceleste» also got a ticket to the 2023 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Goals by Emiliano Holmedilla and Lucas Ponzetti in the last minutes of the third period gave the Argentinians a place in the final against Brazil and the chance to lift the title on home soil.

For their part, Colombia will face Paraguay for 3rd place.

 

– 9th and 7th places –

• Ecuador 2-1 Venezuela

Ecuador beat Venezuela 2-1 and took 9th place in the overall standings. Ecuador’s goals were converted by Cedeño and Dender, while García scored for Venezuela.

 

• Peru 6-3 Bolivia

Peru managed to finish 7th in the competition by beating Bolivia 6-3. Two goals from Acuña and Alcántara, plus one from Millares and Delgado gave the Peruvians the victory. Chávez, Zárate and Alpiri scored for Bolivia.

The final match of the 2023 CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer between Brazil and Argentina will be played on Sunday, March 19, at 16:00 (local time) in Rosario, Argentina.

On the same day, at 13:30 (local time), Paraguay and Colombia will decide the 3rd place and who gets the last spot for the 2023 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

In addition, the decisive match for 5th place will be played between Uruguay and Chile, at 11:30 (local time).
