Brazil and Argentina advance to the Semifinals

• The «Canarinho» and the «Albiceleste» are, respectively, in the first and second places of Group A and have already secured their spots in the semis.
• Four teams still have chances in Group B, qualifiers will be decided in the last round.

Brazil and Argentina are through to the 2023 CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer semifinals after winning their 4th round matches in Group A.

In the same Group, Uruguay and Peru are still in the fight for 5th place overall.

Group B has Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Paraguay with six points, all with chances of qualifying for the semifinals.

Venezuela and Ecuador, last in their groups, will face each other for 9th place in the overall standings.

– Group A –

• Brazil 13-0 Ecuador

Brazil had no trouble at all against Ecuador in the penultimate round of the CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer group stage. The «Canarinho» triumphed 13-0 to reach the semifinals.

Edson Hulk was the top scorer with 4 goals in the match, Mauricinho had 2 and Datinha, Catarino, Brendo, Filipe, Bobô, Mão and Jordan completed the score.

 

• Peru 1-2 Argentina

Argentina also secured a spot in the semis after beating Peru 2-1 in a closely contested bout. The hard-fought victory came at the very end of the match.

The teams had to wait until the second period of the meeting to score goals. Vidal gave the Peruvians the lead and Ponzetti equalized for the Argentines.

Seconds before the final whistle, Medero scored the winning goal that also secured the tournament hosts a place in the next stage of the competition.

 

– Group B –

• Chile 4-2 Bolivia

In group B, Chile secured an important 4-2 victory over Bolivia and has 6 points in the standings.

The Bolivians opened the scoring with a goal by Alpiri, but the Chileans tied the game still in the first period thanks to Ariel Peso. In the second period, the team coached by Armando Torrez took the lead again with a goal by Dahulon Zárate.

The Chilean comeback goals arrived thanks to Pablo Rodríguez, Héctor Tobar and Diego San Martín.

 

• Venezuela 4-5 Paraguay

Paraguay beat Venezuela 5-4 and kept their semifinal hopes alive in a very tight Group B, where the qualifiers will only be decided in the last round.

The «Vinotinto» started on the right foot and opened a 2-goal difference with Castellanos and Escobar, but the «Albirroja» equalized before the end of the first period, thanks to Thiago Barrios and Sixto Cantero.

Jhovanny Benítez and Milciades Medina gave the Paraguayans a 4-2 lead in the second period.

In the last part of the match, an Enderson Ramos goal gave hope to the Venezuelans, but Milciades Medina scored the fifth for Paraguay. Muñoz scored one more for Venezuela, but it did not prevent the Paraguayan team from getting the 3 points.

 

– Next round –

In the last round of the group stage, the matches Peru vs. Uruguay, and Argentina vs. Brazil, will define the final positions in Group A.

Group B will feature Venezuela vs. Colombia and Paraguay vs. Chile, where three of these four teams still have chances of qualifying for the semifinals. Bolivia will have to hope for favourable results to qualify.
