Brazil maintain their perfect start while Venezuela earn a point against Colombia

Brazil extend their lead at the top of Group B with a comfortable win against Peru while Colombia have to share the points with Venezuela thanks to an incredible performance from goalkeeper Wuilker Faríñez.

In the opening game of the round Colombia created plenty of chances but were unable to beat the Venezuelan stopper who was in inspired form.

The final goalless result means Venezuela pick up their first point of the tournament while Colombia move on to 4 points thanks to an opening day win against Ecuador.

•After this draw with Venezuela, Colombian are now 6 consecutive games unbeaten against the Vinotinto in all competitions (3 wins, 3 draws). The Colombians have not lost to Venezuela since June 2015 when they were beaten 1-0 at the CONMEBOL Copa América that year.

In the second game of the round Brazil turned on the style once again to pick up an impressive 4-0 win against Peru to continue their impressive form.

Despite quite significant rotation, Tite’s side were comfortably better than their opponents on the night and won with goals from Alex Sandro, Neymar, Éverton Ribeiro and Richarlison.

With this win Brazil move clear at the top of Group B on 6 points followed by Colombia with 4, Venezuela on 1 while both Ecuador and Peru have a game in hand but as of yet no points.

The third round will be played on Sunday as Venezuela meet Ecuador at 6pm local time at the Estadio Nilton Santos in Río de Janeiro. Colombia will face Peru later in the evening at the Estádio Olí­mpico in Goiânia.

Brazil’s next game will be on Wednesday against Colombia at the Estadio Nilton Santos.
