The CONMEBOL Copa América Fútbol Playa 2023 kicks off

  • The fourth edition of the CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer takes place from 11 to 19 March in Rosario, Argentina.
  • The top three teams will qualify for the 2023 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

The 2023 CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer began on Saturday, March 11, at the Predio Ferial del Parque Independencia in Rosario, Argentina, with the participation of ten national teams from the CONMEBOL Member Associations.

The Group Stage will be played from Saturday, March 11, to Thursday, March 16. The ten teams will be divided in two groups of five, with the top two in each group qualifying for the semifinals, while the others will play for final positions 5th to 9th.

As the host country, Argentina is the top seed in Group A, alongside Brazil, the most victorious team in the tournament, with two titles. Peru, Uruguay and Ecuador will also be looking to qualify for the semifinals in this group.

Group B is headed by Paraguay, winners of the last edition, when they hosted the tournament in 2022. Chile, Venezuela, Colombia and Bolivia complete the group.

The final stage of the competition begins on Saturday, March 18, with the two semifinal matches. Besides that, 7th and 9th places will also be decided in matches between the teams that finished fifth and fourth in their respective groups.

On Sunday, March 19, the tournament will reach its climax with the Grand Final, but not before 3rd and 4th places are decided as well.

The 2023 CONMEBOL Copa América Beach Soccer will take place exclusively on a sand court set up at the Predio Ferial del Parque Independencia in Rosario, Argentina, a completely renovated venue, with new locker rooms, refurbished stands and all the necessary services in the heart of the Parque Independencia.

The tournament will also give out three direct berths to the 2023 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, to be held in November and December this year in the United Arab Emirates.
