Today is the anniversary for one of the key institutions in our continent. The Colombian Football Federation was founded on October 12th, 1924, and affiliated to CONMEBOL in 1936. This institution also operates over indoor football and beach football in this “cafetero” (“coffee-loving”) country.

Their main stadium is Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla city, where the National Team holds their matches for World Cup Qualifiers. It has capacity for 45.000 spectators. Also, the institution possesses two sites, a Sporting venue and an Administrative office, as well as a new National Team headquarters, recently inaugurated in 2021, also in the coast city of Barranquilla.

They have participated in six World Cups: 1962, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2014 and 2018.

Their greatest achievement was in Brazil 2014, where they reached Quarter Finals and came to the fifth position.

Their history in CONMEBOL America Cup goes as follows: they hosted the tournament in 2001, year in which they also attained the continental championship that is their major international triumph. On the other hand, in 1975 they were runners-up, under the Peruvian National Team.

Recently, they have organized -along with CONMEBOL- the Women’s America Cup, where they reached the second place after an amazing tournament.

For this -and much more- we congratulate the Colombian Football Federation in their anniversary. Let’s keep working together in order to generate a permanent growth in South American Football. Let’s think big, together.
