Argentina opened with a win against Uruguay in the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™
After sitting out the opening round, La Albiceleste made their debut with a 1-0 victory over La Celeste.

- Florencia Bonsegundo scored the only goal.
- Uruguay finished with 10 players.
Argentina took a solid first step in the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™: in the opening match of Group A’s second round, Germán Portanova’s side defeated Uruguay in a tough contest.
The first half was evenly matched, with a slight edge for Argentina. The clearest chance came through Florencia Bonsegundo: with the Uruguayan goalkeeper out of position, she headed the ball backwards, but her effort was cleared off the line by Ángela Gómez.
The second half continued with the same rhythm, but this time the historic striker made it count: in the 75th minute, Bonsegundo broke the deadlock with a lob after an assist from Agostina Holzheier, who had come on less than ten minutes earlier.
Uruguay ended the game with 10 players after Wendy Carballo was sent off with ten minutes to go. Argentina took advantage of their numerical superiority to control possession and see out the match.
In the next round, Argentina will face Chile, while Uruguay will look for their first win against Peru. Both matches will be played on Friday.
