- The team coached by Fernando Batista left its mark in the United States.
- They won all three matches in the Group Stage.
Venezuela was one of the standout teams of the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™. With Fernando Batista at the helm and a well-balanced mix of experience and youth, La Vinotinto shone in the oldest national team tournament in the world.
As part of Group B, Venezuela won all three matches and advanced in first place: they defeated Ecuador 2-1 after coming from behind, Mexico 1-0 thanks to a penalty save by Romo, and Jamaica 3-0 in dominant fashion.
In the Quarterfinals, they faced Canada, the second-placed team from Group A. The North American side took an early 1-0 lead, but La Vinotinto equalized with a spectacular long-range goal by Rondón. In the penalty shootout, Canada triumphed 4-3, bringing an end to Venezuela’s dream.
Among the historical achievements, it was the first time in CONMEBOL Copa América™ history that Venezuela won three matches in a single edition. Additionally, Salomón Rondón became the Venezuelan player with the most goals scored in the oldest national team tournament in the world.
Romo’s saves, Soteldo’s dribbles, Rondón’s goals, and the Venezuelan spirit, captured in the phrase “Mano, tengo fe” ("Bro, I have faith"). The CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ will forever remain unforgettable for the Vinotinto nation.
