- Chile finishes in sixth place.
Paraguay came out on top of a tightly contested match against Chile to finish fifth in the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™. A goal by Camila Arrieta in second-half stoppage time sealed the 1-0 victory and earned La Albirroja one of the spots for the Pan American Games in Lima, 2027.
The first half saw few chances for either side. Chile attempted some long-range efforts with little threat to Sol Belotto’s goal, while Paraguay created a few more dangerous opportunities. One of them came early as Claudia Martínez made a run down the left, entered the box, and struck the ball against a defender at the 9-minute mark.
The clearest chance came in the 39th minute, when Acosta broke through with a deep ball, spun past two defenders, and struck a low left-footed shot saved by Antonia Canales.
In the second half, Chile improved their play, driven by captain Karen Araya. Their best opportunity came when Araya found Keefe with a through pass, but the No. 9 fired over the bar. Later, Anaís Álvarez took a shot from distance that narrowly missed the Paraguayan goal.
Paraguay continued pushing with Claudia Martínez, though the tournament’s top scorer was tightly marked throughout. As the match looked destined for penalties, Camila Arrieta found space at the top of the box and fired a low, crossbody shot past Canales to give Paraguay the win.
