- The Canarinha are the second team through to the semifinals.
Brazil have qualified for the semifinals of the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™! The Canarinha defeated Paraguay 4-1 on Tuesday, July 22, securing a place among the continent's top four. Arthur Elias’s team remains unbeaten, with 9 points from three games in Group B.
Brazil took control of the match early on, though Paraguay made it tough to break into the box, forcing long-range shots. The breakthrough came from a set piece: in the 26th minute, Yasmin curled in a free kick from the right wing that went untouched into the net past Belotto.
In what looked like a replay, Yasmin struck again from a free kick on the same flank at the 39-minute mark. Claudia Martínez had Paraguay’s first attempt at goal in the 42nd minute, and just before halftime, Gio nearly made it three from a long ball by Marta, but her chip flew too high.
Paraguay came out stronger in the second half, with Claudia Martínez forcing a save from Lorena at 48 after a great individual run. However, a red card to Camila Arrieta (second yellow) moments later put La Albirroja at a numerical disadvantage.
Taking advantage, Brazil extended the lead with a well-placed shot from Amanda Gutierres at the hour mark, assisted by Angelina. Paraguay pulled one back at 65 thanks to a goal from Claudia Martínez, who capitalized on a defensive error.
At 75 minutes, Duda Sampaio sealed the deal with a stunning long-range strike, again following good build-up by Angelina.
With 3 points, Paraguay are no longer in contention for the semifinals and will now aim for the Fifth Place Match in their final group game against Venezuela on the 25th. On the same day, Brazil face Colombia in a battle for the top spot in Group B.
