Colombia draw with Brazil and qualify for semifinals
A goalless draw: the Canarinha secured the top spot in Group B at the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™

- Brazil goalkeeper Lorena was sent off in the first half.
- Both teams remain in the fight for the title.
Brazil and Colombia drew 0-0 this Friday, July 25, in the final matchday of Group B at the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™. With the result, both teams booked their place in the tournament semifinals.
The match lived up to expectations, with a lot of intensity and well-crafted attacking plays. Dudinha came close early on at the 7-minute mark, firing a low shot after a counterattack. Caicedo responded with the best chance of the first half at minute 13, receiving a cross from Caracas and shooting one-on-one, only to be denied by a brilliant save from Lorena.
Lorena became the central figure of the first half when, at the 21st minute, she came out of the box to stop a shot from Linda Caicedo and handled the ball outside the area. The referee showed her a red card, leaving Brazil with 10 players.
Colombia pushed forward after the sending-off and created a few dangerous chances, but substitute goalkeeper Cláudia wasn’t seriously tested. Brazil managed the game well, containing the Colombian attack and creating some counters of their own.
The second half followed the same rhythm, with Brazil showing composure and confidence to secure the draw. Colombia had few clear chances, and their best opportunity came at the 76th minute, when Linda Caicedo’s cross was intercepted just in time by Mariza.
In stoppage time, Yasmin nearly won it for Brazil with a free kick that hit the post, but the scoreline stayed level.
Brazil finished Group B in first place with 10 points and will face Uruguay in the semifinals on Tuesday, July 29. Colombia, second with 8 points, will take on Argentina a day earlier. Both matches will be played at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado Stadium.
