Racing claimed the CONMEBOL Sudamericana title after a 3-1 victory over Cruzeiro at La Nueva Olla Stadium (Asunción). This was the Argentine team’s first international title in 36 years, since the 1988 Supercopa, when they also defeated Cruzeiro in the final.
Gustavo Costas' team included two starters who played in the CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024™: Gabriel Arias, who appeared in one match for Chile during the group stage, and Juan Fernando Quintero, a runner-up with Colombia, who played three matches in the world’s oldest national team tournament, including the final.
