Paolo Guerrero is a true legend of the Peru national team. He played 125 matches, scoring 40 goals, making him the all-time top scorer for the Blanquirroja.

He participated in six editions of the tournament: 2007, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2019, and 2024. He completed 28 matches, becoming the Peruvian player with the most appearances in the world's oldest national team tournament.
In 2019, he achieved his best result in the tournament, finishing second behind Brazil. In that edition, he was the top scorer (along with Everton), a feat he had also accomplished in 2011 and 2015 (along with Vargas). He scored a total of 14 goals, placing him among the top 5 scorers in the history of the CONMEBOL Copa América™.
His 2024 Season with the National Team
In addition to playing in the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™, Paolo played friendlies and World Cup Qualifiers under coach Fossati. He played 9 matches and scored one goal. His last match was in the South American Qualifiers against Argentina on November 19, 2024.
His Current Status in Peruvian Football
The forward joined Alianza Lima in mid-2024, and this season the team will compete in the CONMEBOL Libertadores.
