- La Canarinha won the CONMEBOL Copa América 2019™ held in Brazil.
- They finished the tournament undefeated and conceded only one goal.
Brazil hosted CONMEBOL Copa América™ in 2019 and claimed their ninth continental title, emerging as undefeated champions and winning their first Final ever at the Maracanã Stadium. Twelve teams participated in the tournament: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela as COMNEBOL Member Associations, along with Qatar and Japan as invited teams.
The team, led by Tite and featuring stars such as Alisson Becker in goal, Thiago Silva, Filipe Luis, Gabriel Jesus, Everton, and Firmino, began their tournament journey in Group A. They defeated Bolivia 3-0, drew 0-0 with Venezuela, and won 5-0 against Peru, whom they would face again in the Final.
In the Quarter-Finals, they beat Paraguay 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw in regular time. This marked Brazil's fifth penalty shootout victory in CONMEBOL Copa América™ history, a record in the tournament. In the Semi-Finals, they defeated their continental arch-rival Argentina 2-0 to earn the right to fight for the title at home.
La Canarinha claimed the title on July 7, 2019, by defeating Peru 3-1 in the Final held at the Maracanã Stadium. In 1989, Brazil had won the championship in that stadium but in a final group stage format with four teams, making this their first knockout stage final victory at CONMEBOL Copa América™.
Brazil conceded only one goal in this tournament edition, becoming the champion team with the fewest goals conceded since Colombia won the title in 2001 with a clean sheet.

Additionally, Brazil became the third country to reach 100 victories in the CONMEBOL Copa América™. Their 100th win in the tournament occurred in their first match of this edition, a 3-0 victory over Bolivia.
Peru reached the CONMEBOL Copa América™ Final for the second time. La Blanquirroja had previously contested a knockout stage final in 1975, when they emerged champions against Colombia.
No player scored more goals in the CONMEBOL Copa América 2019™ than Brazil’s Everton and Peru’s Paolo Guerrero, both with three goals. For Guerrero, this marked the third edition where he finished as the top scorer (2015 and 2011), an achievement no other footballer has reached in the tournament’s history.
