Mayra Ramírez shined in Europe last season. Her goals were key for Chelsea to win three trophies in 2024/2025. Now, she dreams of having a great CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™.

-How is Colombia arriving to this CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina™.?

– We arrive with great excitement. I think Colombia continues to grow with each generation, so we come into this tournament with a lot of hope.

-How would you describe your season with Chelsea and how are you feeling for this tournament?

– Well, Chelsea is a different story from the national team. We had a great season, and I believe the club will keep growing. We're building a solid team for the future. I’m hopeful to keep winning titles with Chelsea. With the national team, we want to take a step forward. We’re happy to be at another Copa América, and our excitement is intact.

At 26 years old and with one CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina™ already under her belt (where she scored two goals), Mayra is one of Colombia’s experienced players: “We’re here to show we’re still growing, that our hope is still alive. Colombia has an amazing new generation of players.”

-You were runners-up in 2022. What’s missing to win your first title?

– It’s all part of a process. Colombia has been doing well in important tournaments like the U-17 and U-20 World Cups. These amazing generations are helping, and we’ll play every match like it’s a final.

-You’re in the same group as Brazil, and Marta is back. What does that mean for you?

– We grew up watching Marta play. She’s a global icon. But once we’re on the pitch, it’s 11 versus 11. We’re here to help Colombia grow. It’s going to be a great match.

-How do you see the overall growth of women’s football?

– Women’s football is growing. That’s allowing some players to reach clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester... It’s amazing to see all these new generations coming up. It’s a dream that can come true.

-Did you ever imagine this could happen?

– We’re always working to open doors for the next generation. Just like Marta, like Cata Usme and so many others opened doors for us, now it’s our turn to do the same for those coming after.
