  • Second win for La Vinotinto.
  • They started the match trailing 1-0.

Chile and Venezuela were the two teams in Group B with a perfect record, each having won their opening match.

La Roja struck first. In the 3rd minute, after a series of rebounds, Araya made it 1-0 for Cabral’s side.

Venezuela responded quickly. In the 5th minute, Carreño found space and finished from a corner kick to level the match.

In just two minutes, La Vinotinto built the lead they would take into halftime. First, Viamonte recovered the ball in midfield while Chile were attacking, combined with Francia and fired a powerful shot inside the near post. Then, Arguello beat the goalkeeper with a nutmeg to make it 3-1.

In the second half, Chile pulled one back through a powerful strike from Lagos, which hit both posts before going past Villalobos. With two minutes remaining, Venezuela broke forward on the counterattack and Francia sealed the win.

Venezuela remain perfect with six points and will face Bolivia on Wednesday, who are still without points, in a match that could secure their place in the semifinals. Chile, meanwhile, will take on Brazil looking to return to winning ways.
