Peru secured a huge victory over Paraguay

The final match of the opening matchday of the CONMEBOL Copa América Futsal 2026™ saw Peru claim a hard-fought victory over Paraguay.
The first half was evenly matched and, despite good chances for both teams, the score remained 0-0 at the break.
The breakthrough came in the second half, thanks to a powerful strike by substitute Carlos Usquiano to give Peru the lead.
Strong pressure from Peru during Paraguay’s build-up ended with a sharp finish by Aguilar, extending the advantage.
Paraguay added a goalkeeper-player in the final minutes, and that was when Facundo Ruscica’s side took full advantage, with Jesús Herrera scoring from goal to goal to seal the win. In the final play of the match, Paraguay pulled one back through Martínez, setting the final score at 3-1.
On Sunday, Paraguay will look to bounce back against Ecuador, while Peru will face debutants Argentina, who had a bye on Saturday.
