Bolivia Took It in Overtime Against Ecuador

After drawing in regulation time, La Verde secured a great 3-2 victory and added points in the CONMEBOL Copa América Fútbol Playa 2025™

February 24, 2025
CONMEBOL Copa América™
  • First win for Bolivia after two defeats.
  • There were 2 goals in regulation time and 3 in overtime.

Bolivia and Ecuador entered the third day of competition with similar feelings: they had played good matches but had only suffered defeats in their appearances.

The first period was so tight that neither team could gain an advantage throughout the 12 minutes played. At the start of the second period, La Verde struck in the first minute with one of the most beautiful goals of the CONMEBOL Copa América Fútbol Playa 2025™: a stunning backheel touch from Darlon Zárate deflected a shot and sent it into the net. Ecuador managed to equalize before halftime thanks to Yagual.

The third period mirrored the first: a 0-0 score that pushed the match into overtime to determine a winner.

Then, in just three minutes, the biggest emotions unfolded: goals came one after another from Dahulon Zárate, Ernesto Lara (the tournament's top scorer with 5 goals), and a moment of brilliance from Dudy Chávez, who placed the ball into the top corner to seal La Verde’s 3-2 victory.

Bolivia will have a bye on Wednesday, the 26th, and will play its final Group Stage match on Thursday, the 27th, against Colombia. Meanwhile, Ecuador will conclude its participation in Group A against Colombia on the 26th.
