  • Just like in 2022, Argentina finished third.
  • Bonsegundo equalized with less than ten minutes to go.

Argentina drew 2-2 with Uruguay in regular time and then won on penalties to claim third place in the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™.

It was a back-and-forth match that started with Argentina taking the lead. In the 24th minute, Aldana Cometti scored her second goal of the tournament with a powerful header.

Uruguay turned the score around in just ten minutes: first, Esperanza Pizarro crossed from the left, and the ball went straight into the net without a touch from Wendy Carballo. Then, right before halftime, Pizarro assisted Juliana Viera, who scored beautifully to make it 2-1.

Argentina, as in the first half, had more possession but created few chances. Holzheier had a clear opportunity in the 75th minute, but the equalizer came through a penalty, confidently converted by Florencia Bonsegundo — her third goal of the tournament.

In stoppage time, Sophia Braun had a great shot that goalkeeper Agustina Sánchez saved, but she was injured on the play and had to be replaced by substitute goalkeeper Sofía Olivera.

The match was decided on penalties. Unlike the semifinal against Colombia, this time Argentina prevailed. Uruguay’s second penalty, taken by Stephanie Lacoste, was saved by Solana Pereyra. The other nine penalties were all scored.

Thus, Argentina finished third in the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™, just as they did in the 2022 edition in Colombia.
