At the Mineirão Stadium in Belo Horizonte, the fans from Ecuador and Japan had a duel in which football and spectacle won.

It was just over half an hour before the start of the game between Ecuador and Japan, one of the last two matches of the groups stage of the CONMEBOL Copa América Brazil 2019, in which both teams were seeking a victory to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Approximately at 7:30 p.m., from Brasilia, the celebration was already prepared in the stands that were dressed in blue on the side of the Japanese fans and mixed with the yellow, blue and red of the Tricolor fans.

Loudly, the Asian fans, children many of them raised their voices in one song: ‘Japan, Japan, Japan’ screamed incessantly.

However, the response of their rivals, in this particular match, sounded as strong as theirs: ‘Ecuador, Ecuador’, together with the already famous ‘Si se puede’, which since 2002 goes with the selection of the altiplano.

During the match, the competition was also tied

In the effort to get the victory, the fans did not stop supporting their team during the 90 minutes of the match. The duel between South Americans and Asians became intense and at times, even dramatic, full of suspense. Some shouted loudly, others responded the same. Shortcuts, luxurious plays and shots were euphorically celebrated.

In the end, both the match on the field and in the stands ended in a draw, in a game in which the fans participated and won the football and the show.

Japanese gratitude

As usual, the Japanese fans showed their appreciation at the end of the match and collected the trash left in the Mineirão stands.

They collected the trash in plastic bags and helped the cleaning staff at the stadium. A form of gratitude that had also been shown by the national soccer team in Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo and that they repeated this Monday in Belo Horizonte.
