Colombia and Brazil emerge as leaders in their groups

  • Colombia appears at the top of Group A with a perfect score after two games played.
  • Brazil leads Group B after winning both of their games and beating Argentina on goal difference.

The third round of the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa America™ Futsal Group Stage took place on Sunday, February 4th. Winners prevailed in all four matches of the day. Chile and Colombia secured victories in Group A, while Peru and Uruguay are now tied with three points each in Group B.

Colombia now leads Group A with six points, followed by Paraguay and Chile with four, Venezuela with three, and Ecuador without any points. In the other group, Brazil and Argentina are tied for first place with six points each. Uruguay and Peru follow with three, while Bolivia has yet to score.

On Monday, February 5th, there will be a rest day in the competition, with action set to resume at the COP Arena in the city of Luque, Paraguay, on Tuesday, February 6th.

– Bolivia 2-3 Peru – Group B

The Peruvian team managed to earn their first three points in the competition by defeating Bolivia 3-2, who are yet to secure any points in the tournament.

Peru’s goals were scored by Toni Alvarado, Denilson Zegarra, and Johnny Solano, while Bruno Tecos and Joel Guzmán found the net for ‘La Verde’.

Next, Peru will face Brazil in the upcoming round, while the Bolivian team will have a break.

 

– Brazil 4-1 Uruguay – Group B

The Brazilian team triumphed again in the CONMEBOL Copa America™ Futsal, this time with a comfortable 4-1 scoreboard over Uruguay.

Dyego Zuffo, Jean Pierre Guisel, Arthur de Sousa, and Rafael dos Santos were the scorers for Brazil, while Nicolás Lamas netted the only goal for ‘Celeste’.

Brazil now boasts six points from two victories in the competition, while Uruguay has three.

In the upcoming matches of the 4th Round, Brazil will take on Peru, while Uruguay will face Argentina.

 

– Ecuador 3-4 Chile – Group A

In a thrilling and closely contested match, which saw numerous shifts in momentum and appeared headed for a draw, the Chilean team ultimately prevailed over Ecuador with a 4-3 scoreline.

The goals for ‘La Roja’ were came courtesy Javier Fuentealba, Eduardo Martínez, Nicolás Lagos, and Bernardo Araya. Bryan Salazar, Dalember Segura, and Jimmy Espinales found the back of the net for ‘La Tri’.

In the upcoming round, Ecuador will have a break while Chile will take on Colombia.

 

– Colombia 2-1 Venezuela – Group A

In the final match of the third round at the COP Arena in the city of Luque, Paraguay, Colombia defeated Venezuela 2-1 to keep a flawless campaign thus far in the tournament.

Angellot Caro opened the scoring for the Colombians, but Maikel Torres equalized the game. With five minutes remaining, Jorge Cuervo netted another goal to secure the victory for the ‘Cafeteros’.

The upcoming round will feature clashes between Colombia and Chile, as well as Venezuela and Paraguay.
