The forward played his sixth CONMEBOL Copa América™ in 2024, equaling José “Chemo” del Solar and Teodoro “Lolo” Fernández as the Peruvians with the most appearances in the tournament. Paolo participated in 2007, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2019 (runner-up), and 2024.
He also reached 28 matches played in the world’s oldest national team tournament. Not only is he the Peruvian player with the most appearances, but he is also fifth on the all-time list, trailing only Messi (Argentina, 39), Sergio Livingstone (Chile, 34), Zizinho (Brazil, 33), and Víctor Ugarte (Uruguay, 30).
