CONMEBOL Copa América™
  • Hosted the tournament in 2016 and 2024.
  • Fourth place was its best result.

The United States had the honor of hosting the 48th edition of the CONMEBOL Copa América™ in 2024. Between June 20 and July 14, 16 teams competed across 14 venues spread throughout the North American country in pursuit of the title, which ultimately went to Argentina.

The team, led by Gregg Berhalter, was placed in Group C alongside Uruguay, Panama, and Bolivia. The United States opened with a 2-0 victory over Bolivia but then suffered defeats against Panama (1-2) and Uruguay (0-1), resulting in elimination during the Group Stage.

This was not the first time the United States hosted the tournament: in 2016, the CONMEBOL Copa América Centenario™ was held there, where the home team performed well, finishing in fourth place, matching their 1995 achievement.

The CONMEBOL Copa América™, established in 1916, has been held 48 times, with all other editions hosted by CONMEBOL member nations. Among invited teams, only the United States has had the privilege of hosting the oldest national team tournament in the world.
