  • Luis Suárez will play his final match for the Uruguayan national team.
  • Three coaches will make their debut.

The South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup will be played from September 5th to 10th, with matchdays 7 and 8 being played.


On Friday, September 6, at the Estadio Centenario, Uruguay will host Paraguay in Luis Suárez's last match with La Celeste after a successful 17-year career, which included winning the CONMEBOL Copa América 2011™.


Additionally, two major CONMEBOL Copa América™ champions, Ángel Di María and Claudio Bravo, have retired from their national teams.


Three coaches will make their debut: Gustavo Alfaro with Paraguay, Sebastián Beccacece with Ecuador, and Óscar Villegas with Bolivia. The other seven coaches were present during the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™, with Alfaro having managed Costa Rica.
