The CONMEBOL Libertadores Semifinalists, filled with CONMEBOL Copa América™ players

A total of 11 players who competed in the national team tournament remain in the hunt for Eternal Glory.

The four teams that will compete for the 2024 CONMEBOL Libertadores trophy have been decided: River Plate, Atlético Mineiro, Botafogo, and Peñarol.


The Argentine team defeated Colo-Colo 1-0 in the second leg, with the presence of three CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ champions (Armani, Pezzella, and Acuña). Borja and Bareiro also played (the latter came on in the second half). Paulo Díaz was unable to play due to suspension.


Their opponent in the Semifinals will be Atlético Mineiro, the next team with the most players who played in the United States: four. The Brazilian team beat Fluminense 2-0 in the second leg, with Junior Alonso, Alan Franco, and Guilherme Arana starting. Eduardo Vargas was on the bench.


On the other side of the bracket, Botafogo won on penalties against São Paulo after a 1-1 draw. Jefferson Savarino started for the Carioca team.


The fourth team fighting for the title is Peñarol, after a 0-0 draw against Flamengo. The “Manya” is the only one of the four teams without players who competed in the latest CONMEBOL Copa América™. Gastón Ramírez, the Uruguayan team’s No. 10, played in the world’s oldest national team tournament in 2016.


The Semifinal matches will be played on the weeks of October 21 and 28. The Final will take place on November 30.
