It is Brazil’s ninth title in the tournament.

The match ended in an exciting 4-4 draw.

In a thrilling final, Brazil beat Colombia on penalties and was crowned champion of the CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina 2025™! The Canarinha tied 4-4 with the Cafeteras at the end of extra time and was better in the shootout to claim another title, the ninth in their history.

The action started balanced at Rodrigo Paz Delgado, where both teams sought to gain an advantage on the field. Gradually, Colombia began to create the best chances: at 10 minutes, Loboa penetrated the area from the right and shot over Lorena’s goal; at 15, Caicedo received free, entered the box, and was blocked by Tarciane when finishing. Counterattacks and strong marking were working well for Ángelo Marsiglia’s team.

On the other hand, Brazil faced a well-positioned defense and had little advantage on long balls into the Cafeteras’ area. At 11, one of those passes was poorly cleared by Kate Tapia, but Yasmin couldn’t capitalize on the rebound. Kerolin tried from outside the box and failed to create danger, ten minutes later.

At 25, Colombian persistence paid off. After a blocked shot from Linda Caicedo, Colombia kept the ball in Brazil’s area and with a nice exchange of passes, the ball came back to shirt 18 who finished near the small box, opening the score in Quito. It was the attacker’s fourth goal in this CONMEBOL Copa América Femenina™.

In first-half added time, Arthur Elias made substitutions to restore team balance, and the decision paid off. Carabalí committed a penalty foul in a collision with Gio Garbelini after a VAR review, and Angelina equalized with a good penalty kick.

The second half was more favorable to Brazil, which almost turned the game early when Kerolin shot, Tapia gave a rebound, and Gio’s follow-up hit the post. Colombia responded at 51, with Caracas shooting just next to Lorena’s post after a play from Linda Caicedo. Yasmin nearly surprised Tapia at 57 when a cross was headed towards goal and forced the Colombian keeper to clear for a corner.

Just when Brazil looked safe, Colombia took the lead again: at 69, Tarciane tried to pass back to Lorena but didn’t see the keeper out of position and ended up scoring an own goal. From there, the final became very exciting.

Amanda Gutierres made it 2-2 after receiving a long pass, controlling with her chest and shooting left-footed, low, at 80. Then, a brilliant counterattack by Mayra Ramírez and Linda Caicedo ended with number 9 beating Lorena and putting the Cafeteras ahead again. And at the end of stoppage time, Marta fired a rocket from outside the box and forced extra time.

In extra time, both teams slowed down looking for a better opportunity — which came for Brazil: at the end of the first half, Marta received a free cross and redirected it with her right foot to give the Canarinha the lead. In the second half, Leicy Santos made it 4-4 with a beautiful free kick from the edge of the box, forcing the title decision to penalties.

In the shootout, Brazil was better, scoring with Tarciane, Amanda Gutierres, Mariza, Jhonson, and Luany; Colombia scored with Usme, Restrepo, Caicedo, and Bonilla. Keeper Lorena then saved Carabalí’s shot to secure the victory for the Verde-Amarela.
