The match was played in Montevideo during the 1942 South American Championship, the name used at the time for what is now the CONMEBOL Copa América™.
More than 80 years later, no other team has surpassed the 12-goal margin of Argentina's victory.
Argentina 11-0 Venezuela: The Second-Biggest Margin
Argentina also recorded the second-biggest win in tournament history.
In the 1975 edition, La Albiceleste defeated Venezuela 11-0, finishing one goal short of the record set in 1942.
