  • Both teams lost close matches on the first day.

  • Mexico and Venezuela will play later that day to close the second day of Group B.

Ecuador and Jamaica will seek to rebound in their match on the second day of Group B at CONMEBOL Copa América™ on June 26 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ecuador played a large part of its debut down a player due to the early expulsion of Enner Valencia. Despite that they took the first early lead against Venezuela. From there, Venezuela achieved its first comeback in the tournament, winning 2-1, while Ecuador will be without its main attacking man against Jamaica. However, they do not lack talent to replace Valencia.

In their debut, the Reggae Boyz came very close to scoring their first-ever goal in CONMEBOL Copa América™, but VAR ruled it offside. They would lose a close match to their Concacaf rivals Mexico 1-0, but gained a lot of confidence with their strong performance in their first match.

Both teams will be eager to get the three points to increase their chances of reaching the quarter-finals.

Key Facts

  • Ecuador's last two victories at CONMEBOL Copa América™ were against Concacaf opponents: 4-0 against Haiti in 2016 and 2-1 against Mexico in 2015. However, La Tri was defeated in its most recent match against a country from that confederation: 1 -2 against the United States in 2016.
  • Alexander Domínguez has played 10 games at CONMEBOL Copa América™ with Ecuador. Only two La Tri goalkeepers have surpassed that mark in the history of the tournament: Napoleón Medina (17) and Alfredo Bonnard (19).
  • If he starts for Ecuador against Jamaica, Kendry Páez will be the first player aged 18 or younger to start multiple matches in a single edition of CONMEBOL Copa América™ since Takefusa Kubo with Japan in 2019 (2 starts).
  • Jamaica's 35 clearances against Mexico were more than any team in a single match in the previous edition of CONMEBOL Copa América 2021™ in Brazil. The last team to achieve that number of authorizations was Japan against Uruguay in 2019, with 38.
