The Finalissima is a tournament that has been played since 2022 between the champions of the CONMEBOL Copa América™ and the UEFA European Championship. Argentina and Spain will face each other in this edition; in the first edition, La Albiceleste defeated Italy 3–0 at Wembley.

What is the Finalissima format? Will VAR be used?
The Finalissima is a single-match final played over 90 minutes. There is no extra time; if the score remains level at the end of regulation time, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout. The referee will be appointed jointly by both confederations. Video Assistant Referee (VAR), goal-line technology and Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) will be used.
Why was the Finalissima introduced?
The match is part of the expanded cooperation between UEFA and CONMEBOL, which includes, in particular, women’s football, futsal and youth competitions, referee exchanges and technical development programs. The fixture was agreed after UEFA and CONMEBOL signed a renewed and expanded memorandum of understanding on December 15, 2021.
