Argentina and Spain to face off in the 2026 Men’s Finalissima

The great showdown between the champions of America and Europe has a confirmed date and venue, in the same year that the FIFA World Cup will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

  • The match between the champions of the CONMEBOL Copa América and UEFA EURO 2024 will be played in Qatar on Friday, 27 March 2026.
  • Argentina are the reigning Men’s Finalissima champions, after winning the last edition held in 2022 against Italy.

CONMEBOL and UEFA, together with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), announced this Thursday, 18 December, the venue, date and kick-off time for the 2026 Men’s Finalissima.


The match will feature Argentina, winner of the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024, against Spain, champion of UEFA EURO 2024, in a clash between the two continental titleholders.


The game will take place at Lusail Stadium in Qatar on Friday, 27 March 2026, kicking off at 21:00 local time – 18:00 GMT / 15:00 ARG.


“This emblematic match is more than a competition; it is a symbol of cooperation and respect between confederations, and an opportunity for fans to enjoy a truly historic event,” said CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez.


Introduced as part of the close collaboration between UEFA and CONMEBOL, the Finalissima celebrates footballing excellence by bringing together the best of South America and Europe. Argentina, the reigning world champions, won the 2022 edition after defeating Italy 3-0 at Wembley Stadium in London.


UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin stated: “This match symbolizes the unity of two football continents and demonstrates the global reach of our sport in a highly prestigious encounter. We look forward to an unforgettable evening of elite football and international celebration.”
