Emiliano Martínez, Chosen as the World’s Best Goalkeeper

The Argentine won the Yashin Trophy for the second consecutive year.

Emiliano Martínez claimed the 2024 Yashin Trophy, an award given by France Football to the Best Goalkeeper of the season.


The Argentine, who had already won the award in 2023, had another stellar season that included the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024™ title. “Dibu” was named the Best Goalkeeper of the world’s oldest national team tournament.


At Aston Villa, Martínez was instrumental in helping the English team return to the Champions League after more than 40 years of absence.


The goalkeeper, who emerged from Independiente, completed an impressive season: between the Argentine national team and Aston Villa, he played 62 matches, with 25 clean sheets and four penalty saves in shootouts.


“Dibu” had previously played in the CONMEBOL Copa América™ in 2021 with the same efficiency: he was champion and named the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament
