Ángel Di María, a Legend of the CONMEBOL Copa América™

The Rosario native bid farewell to the Argentine national team in the United States, leaving his name etched in the oldest national team tournament in the world.

Ángel Di María played his first CONMEBOL Copa América™ in 2011. He participated in a total of six editions, winning two trophies (2021 and 2024) as well as reaching two other finals (2015 and 2016).


In the last edition of the tournament, held in the United States, the Rosario native made a grand exit from the national team. On July 14, 2024, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, he started and played 117 minutes in Argentina's 1-0 victory over Colombia to lift the 16th star. Additionally, he was named the Superior Player of the Match by Michelob ULTRA.

On July 10, 2021, Argentina defeated Brazil 1-0 at the Maracanã to claim their 15th title and end a 28-year trophy drought. At 21’, Rodrigo De Paul delivered a brilliant pass from his own half, which Di María controlled with a touch and then chipped over the goalkeeper to score the only goal of the match.
