More than 100 years after its creation, the original tournament trophy has been restored and is ready to be showcased at the 48th edition of the CONMEBOL Copa América™.

The original CONMEBOL Copa América™ trophy was crafted by Casa Escasany (Buenos Aires, Argentina) to be awarded for the first time at the 1917 South American Championship, a competition that later became known as the CONMEBOL Copa América™. It is a piece of 950 silver jewelry, purchased from France for 3000 Swiss francs. The jewelry store imported the base trophy from France and was responsible for crafting the original design and final piece.

In 1979, a wooden base was added to accommodate a second row of champion plaques, and in 1995, a third row was added. The original trophy was awarded until the 2001 edition, won by Colombia, and from 2004 to 2021, different replicas were presented.

The restored cup, with all its historical value, will be lifted on July 14, 2024, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens by the champion team of the CONMEBOL Copa América™.

The documentary about this restoration can be seen on CONMEBOL Copa América™ social media channels.
