CONMEBOL placed two representatives among the top four of the first Women’s Futsal World Cup in history: Argentina and Brazil are in the semifinals and could face each other in the final.
Argentina beat Colombia 4–1 in the quarterfinals with goals from Rossi (2), Nava, and Núñez. On Friday, they will face Portugal in the first semifinal of the tournament.
On the other side of the bracket, Brazil thrashed Japan 6–1 thanks to goals from Emilly (3), Debora Vanin, and Luana. Emilly now has six goals in the tournament and is one of the top scorers alongside Spain’s Irene Córdoba, whom she will face on Friday in the second semifinal.
If both South American teams win, the final of the latest CONMEBOL Copa América Futsal Femenina™.—won by Brazil—will be repeated. Both the third-place match and the final will be played on Sunday.
