  • The number 10 scored in the 73’ in his second match of the tournament.
  • Canada achieved its first victory in the tournament.

The CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024™ gave us more material for the history books: Canada, the only debutant in the 48th edition, scored its first goal in the tournament and also secured its first victory on June 25th.

After a 2-0 defeat against Argentina in their debut, the team led by Jesse Marsch knew they had a final against Peru at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City.

Canada had 4 shots, 2 on target, and one of them turned into a goal: at 73’, a quick counterattack ended with a good assist from Shaffelburg for David, who shot from right to left and scored against the post.

The Concacaf team earned their first three points in the tournament and will aim for qualification on Saturday, June 29, when they face Chile at Inter & Co Stadium in Orlando.
